Gums and Heart Problems

In the past few years, there has been growing evidence that periodontal (gum and bone)
disease is associated with medical problems.

Studies involving over 50,000 people in different countries confirm that periodontal disease is a risk factor for heart disease, including death from heart disease.
Studies also show a relationship between gum disease and stroke, lung disease, aggravation of diabetes, and premature births. Occasionally, brain abscess and colitis are associated with gum disease.
